The Fortune Crew

Description

This was yet another idea for yet another alternate dimension for the Skullgirls universe, which was bouncing around in my head for a long time.  Finally, I got it out.

This is the Fortune Crew.  They live in a dimension that exists in a comic book-style Digital Age, where the main cast of Skullgirls is composed of superheroes and supervillains.  They are a vigilante group whose goal is to purge the city of the corrupt influence of the crime families, most notably the Medici family.  Based in Neo-Meridian.

From left to right:

Piecemeal (a.k.a. "Cheshire", "Cheshire Fortune", or "Stitch")
A Ms. Fortune from yet another alternate dimension... which happens to also be a dystopian cataclysmic dimension offset by five years to this dimension.  In her world, prior to the cataclysmic events that would define it... instead of being butchered to death by the Medici Mafia, they broke her and then, slowly, tore her apart, piece by piece (hence the name).  The intense trauma caused her to go insane, which also caused her to forget her true name.

She arrives in this dimension via some portal created by some cataclysmic event in the other dimension, then gets arrested for robbery when she tries to find food and clothing, and then is found by the Ms. Fortune of this dimension.

While more beast than person, in nature... she is mostly sane now, although she still enjoys reducing her opponents to mere scratching posts.

From her time surviving in a post-apocalyptic world, she's much more agile and flexible and much stronger than the Ms. Fortune of this dimension.  Her strength is increased even more with the assistance of the Gae Bolga Matrix parasite she found in her own dimension, so naturally, Piecemeal is the muscle of the group.

Ms. Fortune (nicknamed "The Boss")
The head of the group.  The Ms. Fortune that actually belongs here.  Quick-witted and always in the mood for a good pun.  As a kid, she started off as a low-life pickpocket, who later joined with a gang of Dagonians known as the Fishbone Gang.  They got along great, went on many heists, and felt unstoppable.  They then had the gall to obtain the priceless Life Gem from the Medici Mafia, the most powerful and most influential crime family in Neo-Meridian.  After Ms. Fortune swallowed the gem, she and her comrades were made into sushi by Black Dahlia and her men.  Story is pretty much the same as the canon version... she rises up, alive, but cut into pieces, and eventually pulls herself back together.  This time, she was out for blood, but then thought it better to continuously harass the Medicis' corrupt businesses and whatnot.  She figured public humiliation constituted for a more satisfying revenge than simple death.  She became a private investigator to begin executing this plan.

Time and again, Ms. Fortune was able to foil many a plot cooked up by the Medici Mafia.

Robo-Fortune, Prototype Model 000 (nicknamed "Zero")
A prototype model of a doppelganger robot sent to destroy Ms. Fortune.  Hacked and modded by Fortunette to follow Fortunette's orders.  Technically an "it" but referred to as "she".  Learning computer allows Zero to reason inductively and deductively.  She's also outfitted with a complex weapons system that Fortunette made and can access, not including the weapons she already came with, such as detachable flying parts and razor sharp claws.  Zero's tail sword was eventually replaced with a much sturdier, much more flexible chain-sword weapon.  Besides weapons, another one of Zero's uses is that she has different forms of vision and can analyze crime scenes (or anything, for that matter) with near perfect accuracy.  This makes her the analyst.

Fortunette continues to upgrade Zero with parts she salvages from other Robo-Fortune drones.

Fortunette (real name: Leslie)
Yet another feral.  Leslie and her father ran a machine shop, which got her interested in tinkering, and allowed her to become familiar with multiple fields of engineering at a young age.  Her father was taken by a mafia family when he refused to pay some of their goons for "protection".  It's unknown if he's still alive, or if it was the Medici Mafia that was responsible for this, but either way, they came back to get the girl.  She ran and got caught in a would-be-fatal accident, had not Ms. Fortune been nearby to inject some of her Life Gem-enriched blood plasma into the feral girl's blood stream.  When the mafia came back yet again, Ms. Fortune jumped them and beat the stuffing out of them.  Ms. Fortune winds up taking Leslie under her wing a few days later.

From that day onward, Leslie took on the nickname "Fortunette", as she was fortunate to be alive.  She became Ms. Fortune's sidekick, tinkerer, and errand girl.

Note: This dimension is now Fortunette's home dimension.

Note: Special thanks to :iconbigbootyzombie: for encouraging me to expand on the character a little more!

Enjoy!

Note: The Fortune Crew is named after another superhero team of mine of the same name, one whose members have motifs of good luck charms.
